Established in 1993 in Vasant Kunj by mountaineer and social worker Maj. H.P.S. Ahluwalia, ISIC is one of India's few hospitals built specifically around spine and rehabilitation medicine. It combines complex spine surgery, spinal cord injury management and trauma care with structured, long-term physical rehabilitation programmes — a combination that is harder to find in general multi-specialty hospitals.
